Gerry Pulford was delighted to reach his 40 year landmark after starting with 600 Group in June 1975, working for 600 Services (now 600 Machinery International) straight after his ‘A’ levels. Gerry was originally employed as a junior project engineer, and attended the Colchester Institute to study for an HND in Business Studies and attended a 12 month mechanical engineering apprenticeship at the Colchester Lathe Training Centre.
Gerry quickly moved on to become a project engineer, working extensively in the Middle East and North Africa before becoming the sales manager for 600 Machinery International selling Colchester and Harrison lathes into these territories and in the Indian sub-continent.
Gerry lives with his wife, Tracey, who he met at the Colchester Lathe Company and have two sons and a daughter. Gerry naturally enjoys travelling, is a keen supporter of Colchester United Football Club and spends most of his spare time in his garden, so his gift of gardening vouchers should come in very handy.
Ian Chilver received a watch in recognition of his 25 years service with Gamet Bearings, starting in July 1990 as a CNC setter operator, but quickly progressing to quality and production engineering roles before becoming Gamet’s production manager in 2007. Testament to his commitment to the production and quality environment at Gamet, Ian has never been seen in a dirty white coat.
Ian is married to Janette and has two boys. He is a keen sportsman, citing off-road motorcycling, cycling and sailing as some of his many hobbies.
Following 600 UK’s time-honoured tradition, both gentlemen received a certificate and long service medal, along with their individual gifts to mark the occasion.
